Krista Fortier

Krista Fortier

Family Law, Real Estate Law, Wills and Estates

Born and raised in Sudbury, Krista has practised law since her call to the bar in 1999.  Her practice consists of Real Estate, Family Law as well as Wills and Estates.

Krista regularly represents clients in the purchase and sale of residential real estate including the financing required for such transactions.  She will assist with the review and preparation of purchase and sale agreements as well as mortgage and loan documentation.

Krista is experienced in negotiating Separation Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements and Marriage Contracts.  She also regularly attends court in the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice to litigate parenting issues, child and spousal support, the equalization of property and divorce.  She understands the expensive and stressful reality of the Court process and this is why she offers alternative dispute resolutions to resolve family law cases.

Krista is a Collaborative Law lawyer and a certified Mediator with the Association of Family Mediators.  As a Collaborative Law lawyer, she works with other lawyers and third party specialists to help parties in a divorce or separation collaborate with each other, and reach a mutually acceptable resolution of the issues stemming from the breakdown of their marriage.  In all cases, she is driven to achieve a settlement that will be uniquely tailored to her client’s needs.

Krista is also a panel lawyer for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and the Family Responsibility Office; and prosecutor for both the Ministry of Transportation(CMV) and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.  Away from the office Krista is an active board member and volunteer for many non-profit organizations which serve Northern Ontario.  In her spare time she is an Uber driver/mom to her children and enjoys spending quality time with them at hockey arenas, ski hills and tracks.

Fred Fortier

Fred Fortier

Real Estate Law, Wills and Estates

Fred has practiced law since his call to the bar in 1972 when he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.  From there he went on to practice in Sudbury where he ultimately established Fortier Law Firm.

Fred specializes in the purchase, sale and mortgaging of residential Real Estate, Mortgage and Debt Enforcement, and Wills and Estates.  Over many invaluable years of working with different clients, cases, settlements, etc., Fred has cultivated a substantial wealth of knowledge that empowers him to assist in any type of situation that may arise.

As the historical founder of Fortier Law Firm, Fred’s career and his kids and grandkids have been his passion for as long as he can remember.  Like father, like daughter, like son, the apple for outstanding legal assistance did not fall far from the tree.  In fact, in Fred’s case, you might say it permanently hung on.
